Edge protection

Edge protection

Edge protection is a vertical edge, or collar at the sides of the floor edges. It is required on elevated work locations. Edge protection is safety barrier and is often installed in combination with knee rails, guard rails and hand rail construction. Edge protection examples are for example: toe-boards, collars and kick plates. These edge protection barriers are installed on flat roofs, gratings or mesh floors. Edge protection reduces existing openings between the floor and the knee rail. Edge protection decreases the risk of dropped objects and falling tools at height, it also prevents the passage of a body. Just as guard rails or knee rails; edge protection is a sure safe work barrier designed to protect persons working on levels and floors below.
